Expert Clinical Team · Confidential Consultations · Rapid Specialist Access
Prostate and urinary health problems are among the most common concerns affecting men, yet they’re also among the most frequently left unaddressed.
Whether you’ve noticed changes in your urinary habits, have concerns about your prostate, or simply want the reassurance of a PSA test, ERIC Healthcare offers prompt, private assessment with an experienced GP.
Based in Salford with appointments available within 24–48 hours, our clinic provides thorough investigation and clear guidance, without the wait. If specialist input is needed, we can arrange a referral quickly and directly through our established network of urology consultants across Greater Manchester.
What our Prostate & Urinary Health Clinic covers
We assess and manage a wide range of prostate and urinary conditions, including:
- PSA (prostate-specific antigen) testing
- Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) assessment
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) assessment
- Prostate cancer risk discussions
- Specialist referral pathways
Every consultation involves a thorough review of your symptoms, medical history and lifestyle. We take time to explain what any test results mean, what the likely causes of your symptoms are, and what options are available to you – whether that’s monitoring, treatment or onward referral.
PSA Testing
A PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood test measures a protein produced by the prostate gland.
Raised PSA levels can indicate a number of conditions, including prostate cancer, BPH or prostatitis. This is an important tool in early detection. PSA testing is not routinely offered on the NHS unless symptoms are already present, which is why many men choose to access it privately.
At ERIC Healthcare, PSA testing is available as a standalone appointment or as part of a broader health assessment.
Results are reviewed and discussed with you in full by your GP, with clear guidance on what they mean and what, if anything, should happen next.
Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms & BPH
Symptoms such as a weak flow, frequent urination, difficulty starting or stopping, and getting up at night to use the toilet are all forms of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS). They’re extremely common in men over 50 and are most often caused by Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) – a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate.
Although LUTS and BPH are not usually dangerous, they can significantly affect quality of life. Our GPs are experienced in assessing symptom severity, identifying likely causes, and discussing the full range of management options, from lifestyle adjustments to medication or specialist referral.

Frequently Asked Questions
Many men choose to have a PSA test as a precautionary measure, particularly if they are over 50 or have a family history of prostate cancer. While PSA testing is not currently part of a routine NHS screening programme, it can help detect changes early. Your GP will discuss what your results mean and whether any further action is needed.
Prostate problems become more common from the age of 50 onwards, and the risk of prostate cancer increases with age. Men with a family history of prostate cancer may wish to seek assessment earlier. If you have any urinary symptoms at any age, it’s worth getting them checked.
Common symptoms include a weak or interrupted urine flow, needing to urinate frequently or urgently, difficulty starting to urinate, a feeling that the bladder hasn’t fully emptied, and getting up at night to urinate. These are also symptoms of LUTS more broadly and should be assessed by a GP to identify the cause.
Not necessarily. PSA levels can be raised for a number of reasons, including BPH, prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) and even recent physical activity. A raised PSA is a reason to investigate further, not a diagnosis. Your GP will discuss what the result means in the context of your full medical history and, where appropriate, arrange onward referral to a urologist.
Yes. If your assessment suggests that specialist input is needed, we can arrange a private referral directly through our network of urology consultants in Greater Manchester. This bypasses NHS waiting lists and means you’ll typically be seen significantly sooner.
The Prostate Health Check focuses specifically on prostate health: PSA testing, symptom review and cancer risk discussion. The Over-50 Health Assessment includes all of this, plus cardiovascular and metabolic checks – it’s a more comprehensive annual health review for men who want a fuller picture.
Most patients are seen within 24–48 hours of contacting us. We’re available seven days a week, and all consultations are strictly confidential.
